The balance of life

You can grow just about anything just about anywhere, if you put in the effort.  You can grow in a garden or in a pot – or you can transform wasteland. Even a concreted-over backyard can be tackled with sufficient dedication – and transformed into a kitchen garden growing carrots and even pumpkins . You might like to leave the land to nature, and create a wildflower meadow for the benefit of wildlife and also for some foraging. The balance of life is a key factor. You might get annoyed at one type of insect and try to obliterate it, but that can disrupt the web of life and lead to a problem with another species. Maintaining the balance and working with the natural world rather than against it can produce food in sometimes unlikely-looking places.
